Álnabær is an import/export/manufacturing company specializing in curtains, blinds, accessories and home decorating.

The company is one of the largest of its kind in the country; it was founded in 1976 and is owned by Mr. Magni Sigurhansson and his family. Orginally, Mr. Sigurhansson bought a small company which was situated in Keflavík, 50 kilometers from the capital, Reykjavík. The family has expanded their business considerably, presently employing 30 people who work in the numerous outlets. Álnabær has bought two companies since 1976 and merged them into its own.

This expansion has brought about considerable enlargement of housing and facilities, which currently consist of 3 retail shops (Keflavík, Akureyri, Reykjavík), a production department and an import/export department. In addition, Álnabær has 14 agents located around the country. The company deals chiefly in the import, retail and production of curtain materials such as curtain rods, and roller, venetian, pleated and vertical blinds. Furthermore, the company offers services in choosing, measuring and cleaning its products.

Álnabær is extending its services to include general home decorating and quilting, aiming at the hotel and guesthouse business as well as tending to special orders for individuals.

The successful history of the company is proof of a flourishing enterprise in which the very capable and specialized staff have played a great role.
